In 1983 Gordon was talking to someone on the telephone. His name was Bob Snook. He was the agent hired to sell the Ranch that Gordon was running as the manager. Gordon had to go to Florida to do some repairs on his house. When he called the ranch to make sure everything was going ok, Bob got on the phone. He told Gordon that he had power of attorney to sell the ranch and he came up with a scheme to make a million dollars on the ranch. He had a developer flying over it right as we speak to survey the land he was about to acquire. He was going to sell the Ranch for two million dollars but only give the owner a million of it. He said he would cut Gordon in on a hundred thousand to keep quiet.
Gordon proclaimed that he would expose him and that he would stop this sale with all of his might. Bob said that the plane was flying over as we speak, "Can you hear it?" As soon as tomorrow he will sign the papers. All of a sudden, the plane developed mechanical difficulty and began to crash. Bob was screaming over the phone, "Oh my God! The plane is going down." The pilot was killed, his ten year old son also in the plane was not hurt.
Spirit moves in mysterious ways, needless to say, the Ranch was not sold that year.
Seven years later while visiting some friends Lana and Tracy Leonard in Colorado, they asked Gordon to give a friend of theirs a reading. While doing so it occurred to Gordon that this lady lost a son. Gordon could see him standing there next to her and he told her. She said "Yes, he is always with me. He died in 1983 flying a plane over a ranch he was thinking of buying."
Again I say, Spirit moves in strange ways. He met this woman seven years later to describe and give her a message of a man he never met yet he was the one that crashed at Gold Lake Ranch.
One night while giving a class at a friend named Deba's house in Butler, New Jersey, there were about eight people in attendance including Gordon's and Deba's fathers. Deba's father was a real estate, self-made millionaire. He did not like Gordon and especially did not believe in his abilities. He heckled him all night. When the meditation was over Gordon went around the room to ask each individual what they saw. Deba's father would heckle each of them. When Gordon asked his father what did he see? His father started to talk when Deba's father interrupted him by asking him what he did for a living. He made fun of him and began to humiliate him. Gordon was fuming by this time. When he was finished he asked Gordon "What did you think of that?" Gordon said he did not know what to think of that but wanted to know if he was planning a trip to Africa? He said, "Did Deba tell you that?" Gordon replied that she did, and not to worry about what else he saw. He went on to tell him that he saw him in his own plane going to Africa to go on a Safari and the only thing he was going to see was Gordon's face.
He said what do you mean by that? Gordon replied in a matter of fact way, "I see you staring at my face all the way to the ground, and you are not coming back." Gordon learned later that year from Deba that her father's plane crashed in Africa and he was dead.
For a long time Gordon thought about that prediction and thought it was done with malice by him, because the man insulted his father. He vowed never to do that again.
In 1981 while running the Ranch in Colorado, a Hospital came to the Ranch for a seminar. It was called "Rose Medical Center" and the head administrator recognized Gordon in the Emmy winning show, "What's Happening America".
He asked Gordon if he would be the mystery guest speaker at the Ranch for his administration, and some of the Doctor's and Nurses from the Hospital. Gordon said he would do it.
During the demonstration Gordon was asked if he could hypnotize the head administrator, and he said yes he could. When he did, he noticed that most of the audience was hypnotized. When he brought them out of it, a man stood up and said he was a doctor, and that he resisted being there because he thought the whole thing was crazy. Yet when Gordon did the hypnosis, he said he went under to. He said the amazing thing about it was that he had an impacted wisdom tooth and his whole jaw was swollen and he was in extreme pain. But when the session was over, the swelling was gone and so was the pain.
Then Gordon began to demonstrate his psychic ability. He began to give psychic messages to people in the audience, most of whom were nurses, doctors and administrators.
When he was done they all proclaimed he was amazing and accurate with most. Then Gordon looked at a man and said "I did not read you" and the man replied he was right. Gordon looked at him and said that he was not a doctor, nurse or administrator. Gordon proclaimed that the man was a lawyer, and he admitted that he was right. Then Gordon told him that he was going to be in the biggest law suit he was ever in. The man " named George" said with who? Gordon said he did not know, but he did know it had to do with the Hospital. George was the attorney for the Hospital. Gordon said that there was a machine that the Hospital was using in the emergency room that was killing people.
A week later the man called George came by the Ranch to speak to Gordon. He was with one of the administrators. They wanted to know more about this machine because each time they put someone on it, they would die just like Gordon said. Yet when the people that made the machine came and inspected it, they said there was nothing wrong with it. It was a machine that administers anesthesia.
Gordon showed them on a diagram where the problem was, it had to do with a valve that let the anesthesia flow into the patient. After careful inspection, they found that Gordon was exactly right.
The Hospital was so grateful for this, they gave Gordon a free office with his name on it. Dr Gordon Banta, they also gave him free answering service, Doctor's answering service. Gordon did not use it however, the hospital was to far away from the mountains.
However the Hospital came to the ranch to do a seminar with Gordon, "How to develop your own intuition" It was repeated a year after Gordon left Colorado and moved back to Florida. He flew out to Winter Park Co to do a seminar on Halloween for the Hospital. That was the last thing he did for them, he never went back to the state until years later.
In 1983 or 84 while dining in a restaurant, a woman approached him and said he looked familiar. They could not remember where they saw each other, but Gordon thought it may have been in a past life, or maybe she saw him on TV.
Later on she invited Gordon to her house to read for some of her friends. She then took Gordon to an adjoining building where her husband has an office. She told her husband that Gordon was a good psychic, but her husband said he did not believe in it, but if Gordon would take this tennis racquet and hold it and then tell him who it belongs too, perhaps then he may believe. Gordon held it and then said it belongs to a a thin man, tall with dark hair. He needs to control his serve, and a few other problems and he could become the best tennis player in the world. In fact he saw him going to Germany where he would win a solid gold tennis ball with diamonds and jewels in it. He said he felt the name Ivan Lendl. At this time , Lendl had not made a name for himself just yet.
He told Gordon that this was correct with an exception. He was stringing the racquet for Ivan Lendl and he got the name correctly. But he was not an exceptionally good tennis player. And you never win solid gold tennis balls, no less with diamonds and jewels in it.
But later that year Ivan won the German Open and was awarded a solid gold tennis ball with diamonds and jewels.
He then asked Gordon to hold another racquet, and he did. He said it belonged to Chris Evert LLoyd, then the third one he had trouble with the name. It was Martina Navritalova's racquet.
Later that year he gave a reading to Arthur Ashe by way of telephone, and told him that he had a disease and to go to the doctor's. Arthur replied with an affirmation. He was diagnosed with HIV.
Times call staff writer Longmont Colo. had this to say. Banta had no idea I would contact him to set up an interview for a feature story.
We had never met nor spoken to each other before.
After we settled on a time and place for our meeting, I posed the question.
Is it true you can give accurate readings over the phone?
Banta paused for a moment, replied in the affirmative, and then confessed he had a terrible cold, the flu, and had a headache---all of which could affect his accuracy..
Sure I thought. But he agreed to give it a try. I was thinking "how come whenever I put someone to the test, they come up with a headache"?
I volunteered no information, answering his questions with a simple yes or no.
I wasn't going to make this easy for him.
Within a few minutes, Banta was telling me things about myself that I doubt anyone knows.
Such as my life-long dream to be a singer.
He accurately described my appearance, my aged, my birth month,
color and size of my eyes--even a weight problem.
He accurately noted that I have three children.
He told me their genders, ages, talents and hobbies --and was right on the mark.
Banta described my husband right down to a thinning (well, actually balding) head, the knee and ankle injuries he suffered and the recent surgery required as a result of sports.
He went on to the past, and then on to the future.
At the conclusion he apologized for not being as "sharp" as usual.
I was convinced and and Impressed.
In an interview a few days later Banta astounded others in the newsroom with the accuracy of his predictions.
City Editor Steve Krizman"s skepticism was shaken a little when Banta accurately described his wife's difficulties with her pregnancy.
He also was pleased to hear he will be the father of a boy.
Using Psychometry, a process of reading while holding an object belonging to an individual, Banta foretold Lauren Lehman, the newspaper's Executive Editor, would be buying a car real soon.
At that very moment Lehman was test-driving a car. I suggested that he was "gifted," but he brushed that aside. Everyone, he said, can do the same, with practice.
To prove it, within a few minutes he had me looking at auras, the light that he said emanates from all living things and gives insight into a person's personality and emotions.
Around Gordon Banta I perceived a glow that radiated calm, peace and love.
Those expecting the stereotypical trances, crystal balls or swami clothing usually connected with psychics will find that Banta is as normal looking as the next guy.
The only thing extraordinary about this soft-spoken, curly haired, barrel-chested man are his eyes -- so clear and blue they're almost transparent.
He has an uncanny ability to visibly move his eyes in and out of focus during conversation as he concentrates on a person's auras, future or vibrations.
Gordon later the following year went on a cruise to Panama. There Lisa bought him an Emerald Ring. Later she flew back to the states to attend a trip to Mexico. One day while lying on the Beach in Panama with his friend Ralph and his girlfriend from the Dominican Republic three females came over and were chatting with Ralph's girlfriend in Spanish. One of the women bent down and picked up Gordon's hand. She said he had a beautiful ring on and would like to look at it. Gordon took it off and handed it to her telling her it was given to him by his girlfriend. Gordon then dozed off. When he awakened he asked Ralph "Where did the three ladies go?" Ralph asked his girlfriend and she said "I don't know."
Gordon asked, "Wasn't that your girlfriend?" He had heard them speaking in Spanish." She said she had never seen them before and Gordon quickly replied that the one girl took his ring. She said he would never see that again because she never saw those girls before. Gordon then told Ralph that he was going to the phone to call Ceasare, their Panamanian friend who is a Taxi Driver.
Ralph said "What for?" and Gordon replied that he was going to find those girls and get his ring back. Ralph said that they were on the beach thirty miles from Panama City, and Gordon said "I am going to get my ring back."
When Ceasare came, he told them both not to talk or speak to him, but to drive where he instructed him to go.
They drove around Panama City streets back and forth, over and over again, Gordon was in a trance. Suddenly, Gordon told him to stop the car. He said that they were across the street upstairs in an apartment over a store. Ceasare told him that he would never get into the building because there was a guard on duty up there. Gordon looked up the stairs at the guard and said "He won't stop me." He then ran up the stairs, looked the guard in the eye and walked right past him. The guard said nothing to him.
He went inside of the building and there were about eight apartments there. He walked down the hall and stopped at the third one on the left. He knocked on the door just as one of the girls was coming out with her laundry basket.
Gordon grabbed her and took the ring off of her finger. She said how did he find her and he said "I told you I am a psychic damn it." But in fact he never did tell her that he was psychic. He never even said a word to her when he gave her his ring.
He walked out the door and nothing was said. But he had his ring back. Many times people asked him if he could duplicate that act, and he said probably not, but then again, if it was a similar situation, he probably could.
